Working with Gantry
What a print really cost.
Gantry records the time, filament and energy of every print and turns them into a cost and a price for the customer. With a metering smart plug energy is measured; without one, it is estimated.
01At a glance
At a glance
- Measured
- Plug readings cover the whole print cycle.
- Partly measured
- A measured part plus an estimate for the missing time.
- Estimate
- Worked out from the average power in your settings.
02Step by step
Step by step
Set currency and rates
Settings → Pricing: currency (159 codes and a “Use region” button), filament price, power per kWh and other costs.
Connect a metering plug
Assign a Tasmota or Shelly plug with power readings to the printer and check that Gantry sees the watts.
Keep Gantry running
A reading about every 5 seconds through the whole cycle, pauses included. The printer details don’t need to be open.
Check the history
The energy column shows where each result comes from. A measured entry opens its chart on double-click.
Download a report
A TXT report for a print in the statistics, CSV for the whole history.
03Good to know
Good to know
- Changing the currency doesn’t convert amounts or stock prices — enter your rates in the chosen currency.
- Being able to switch a plug doesn’t mean it measures power. A sleeping computer records no readings, and gaps can’t be recovered.
- Filament “per slicer” is a predicted amount, not a measurement. Unknown usage doesn’t mean 0 g.
- The calculator on the home page works the same way as Gantry — try your own print without installing the app.
