Guide

How to connect a Bambu Lab printer on your local network.

Gantry talks to a Bambu Lab printer directly on your network, over MQTT with TLS encryption. You need three things: the IP address, the serial number and the LAN access code.

01Preparation

Before you start

02Step by step

Step by step

  1. Find the printer details

On the printer’s screen, in the network settings, you’ll find the IP address and LAN access code. The serial number is in the device information.

    Check your printer’s manual
  2. Turn on the mode you need

Status monitoring works on the local network. Camera, commands and file upload depend on the model and on LAN and Developer Mode on the printer.

    Check your printer’s manual
  3. Add the printer in Gantry

Choose “Add printer…” and the Bambu Lab type. Gantry tries to find the printer via SSDP and a subnet scan. If it doesn’t appear, enter the IP address manually or import your Bambu Studio configuration.

  4. Enter the serial number and access code

Gantry connects over MQTT with TLS, normally on port 8883. The access code goes into your system’s key storage.

  5. Check the details

Open the printer details: temperatures, AMS and the camera should appear if your model provides them.

Menu names on the printer’s screen differ between models and firmware versions. Check Bambu Lab’s manual for your model for details.

03Problems

Common problems

Gantry can’t find the printer

Discovery broadcasts may not cross VLANs or a VPN. Enter the address manually or add addresses, ranges or CIDRs to scan in the app.

The card shows “Offline”

“Offline” means there is no current connection — check the IP address, the access code and that your computer is on the same network as the printer.

Status works, but commands don’t

A working card doesn’t mean the firmware will accept commands. Check LAN and Developer Mode on the printer. Gantry shows firmware refusals.

I changed the access code

Edit the printer and enter the new code. Leaving the code field empty while editing keeps the saved code.
